This one day tour covers some of the most popular Outlander locations around Edinburgh and Fife with a couple of surprises along the way!

Departing from your hotel our first stop will be the village of Falkland in Fife. Falkland was used to portray the city of Inverness. Falkland is a quiet, friendly town on the edge of some fantastic Scottish scenery. Re-enact the scene when the ghost of Jamie is watching Claire from the Bruce Fountain, and wander around the streets that Claire and Frank spent on their second honeymoon.

Continuing our journey in Fife we will drive to Culross, the town is best remembered as being used as Cranesmuir. We will visit the Study, the Mercat Cross and Culross Palace and Gardens.

Leaving Fife we cross over the River Forth and we will visit Hopetoun House which featured as the Duke of Sandgrihams residence before continuing onto Midhope Castle – the location for fictional Lallybroch also known as Broch Tuarach, the family home of character Jamie Fraser.  Midhope has featured in several seasons of Outlander.  It will be featured in Season 7 when filming takes place in May and June 2022.

After a short drive  along the coast we will reach  Blackness Castle – known as the ship that never sailed.  This was the setting in Outlander as ‘Fort William’ where Jamie received his lashes from Captain Randall in Season 1.

Our final stop of the day will be Linlithgow Palace, this was the setting for Wentworth Prison’’s corridors and entrances where Jamie suffers great torture at the hands of Black Jack Randall in the dungeons.

What type of clothing and footwear should I take?

Scotland’s weather is very changeable, we can have 4 seasons in one day!  It is important to bring plenty of layers, a  waterproof jacket and sturdy footwear.

Can we go inside Midhope Castle?

Midhope Castle can only be viewed from the outside.
